
Redbone’s role as a leading voice in both soul and contemporary Native American music has been recognized by the awards garnered for both her albums - ‘Skintalk’ and ‘Home of the Brave’; which include 2006 Independent Music Award for Best R&B album and Best Debut Artist at the 2002 Native American Music Awards.
In addition to music, Martha is a dedicated activist on behalf of both Native American and African American communities, she is recognized by the Nat’l HIV/Aids Partnership in Washington DC and was presented with a Red Ribbon Award at the United Nations. Most recently she has been a core member of the ManUp Campaign, a global youth movement to eradicate violence against women and girls, which launched with a youth summit in Johannesburg, South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Games.
